Betsey is Co-Founder and Director, The Institute for Open Economic Networks (I-Open), an educational initiative that develops and deploys new practices and tools in Open Source Economic Development. 

Betsey works with organizations and firms to develop the social intelligent systems they need to support entrepreneurial cultures in emerging networked economies. 

In addition to her duties at I-Open, Betsey can be found at BetseyMerkel.com, where she designs and develops communications for technology-based community and economic development projects, and as Harp Instructor at The Music Settlement in University Circle in Cleveland, Ohio.
