Strategic Networks

I-Open programs and services serve entrepreneurs leading innovation to advance community and economic development. Here's a brief history of our initiatives over the years:

  • REI. Tuesdays 2003-2005 -- a two year series of civic forums hosted by the Center for Regional Economic Issues (REI) at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University. Forums convened over 3,000 people and generated many strategic initiatives in energy, healthcare, early childhood, sustainability, government innovation, creative industries, technology enterprise, advanced manufacturing, cognitive sciences, and many more.

  • Wednesdays @ FUTURE 2006-2007 -- weekly Civic Forums hosted at The Cleveland Institute of Art focused on technology and creative industries to advance cross-disciplinary collaboration.

  • Midtown Wednesdays 2006-2007 -- civic forums hosted in collaboration with Myers University and then Chancellor University. Conversations focused on the value of education and it's connection to skills training, employment and advances in e-curriculum.

  • Midtown Mornings 2006-2007 -- early Friday morning conversations with artisan coffee and renowned Cleveland bagels focused on creative digital media and urban improvement startups.

  • Midtown Brews 2006-2009 -- a three year collaboration with multiple technology firms located in the Midtown area of Cleveland, Ohio. This monthly civic forum convened public conversations focused on technology, healthcare, energy, land, food and water. Watch the Broadcasts.

  • Defrag 2007-2008 -- Quarterly northeast Ohio conferences to exchange insights and innovations in technology, creative digital media and business development. Partners represented many regional and out of state universities and colleges, such at The Cleveland Institute of Art, Case Western Reserve University, Lorain County Community College, Cleveland State University, Hiram College, and many more.

  • COINS-Collaborative Innovation Networks  -- is an initiative of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Wayne State University College of Engineering-Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)'s Center for Collective Intelligence. The collaborative builds open knowledge networks to advance the emerging science of collaboration for design, research and industry competitive advantage. I-Open participated in the 2009 and 2010 COINS Conferences and continues to support and endorse this global network of innovators. Learn more about COINs Conferences here.

  • Women's Enterprise Network 2007-2009 -- a social network with monthly civic forums to engage and empower women entrepreneurs. This forum was also hosted for a year by women residents of Judson Living (extended living facilities) whose broadcast conversations focused on the role and value women provide to economic development. Members shared personal histories as influential wives of affluent industrialists, executive directors of municipal school and health systems, notable leaders in fashion, manufacturing and most industries that built regional wealth and provided public services to Northeast Ohio residents.   • Ohio City Power 2010 to Present -- is based in Ohio City, Cleveland, Ohio. Ohio City Power provides programs and services in faith-based economic development to improve the spiritual and physical well-being of the homeless, hungry and jobless of Cleveland, Ohio and surrounding cities.   • Meet The Candidates 2012 to Present -- is a community forum initiative based in Cleveland, Ohio that convenes citizen and government in collaborative dialogue to address issues and inform local election process. I-Open contributes collaborative technology tools and brand communications to strengthen transparency, social connectivity, and accountability.

  • We Are Cleveland Heights 2014 to Present -- is a merchant-resident network based in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. The network seeks to improve business development in community, and develop government-citizen responsiveness on local issues. Add your Like to
